Leagues Cup Final Host: A Battle Between Columbus and Philadelphia
With just four teams remaining in the Leagues Cup competition, the question on everyone’s mind is: who will host the highly anticipated Final on August 25th?
The hosting rights for the Leagues Cup are determined by a ranking system that takes into account the combined performance of MLS and LIGA MX clubs. This ranking is based on points accumulated in the last 34 regular-season matches.
The four teams vying for the Final hosting spot are Columbus Crew, Philadelphia Union, LAFC, and Colorado Rapids. Based on the current rankings, the winner of Wednesday’s Semifinal in Ohio will have the honor of hosting the championship match. The other team will automatically qualify to play in the Third-Place Match on Sunday.
Columbus Crew, currently ranked No. 6, and Philadelphia Union, at No. 9, are the two teams with the highest chances of securing the hosting rights. A victory for either team in their respective Semifinal matches will put them in a strong position to host the Leagues Cup Final.
