Rain Forces Day One Washout in Pakistan-Bangladesh Test
Rawalpindi, Pakistan: The opening day of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh was completely washed out due to persistent rain. No play was possible, not even the toss, as the umpires inspected the field at noon but were forced to call off the day’s proceedings. With more rain forecast for the evening and overcast conditions expected for much of Saturday, the chances of any cricket being played on the second day seem slim.
The teams had not even left their hotels given the bleak outlook for the day. This is the second consecutive day of rain-affected play, as both teams had to cancel their practice sessions on Thursday.
Bangladesh currently leads the two-match series 1-0 after their historic maiden Test victory over Pakistan in the first game. Pakistan has made changes to their lineup, including the addition of legspinner Abrar Ahmed. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will welcome the return of Taskin Ahmed, who is expected to replace Nahid Rana. However, the final playing XIs will only be announced once the weather improves.
The second Test was originally scheduled to be played in Karachi but was shifted to Rawalpindi due to ongoing construction work at the National Stadium.
